BAYESWATER DAY TICKET NEWS CATCH-UP MID AUGUST 2010

Aug 31,2010

I have been a bit negligent recently up-dating the web site.  It's not because there hasn't been anything to report because there's been loads of fish caught with a good head of 20's and the 2 x 30 mirrors coming out a few times each.

In the last 2-3 weeks Jim, one of the regulars had one of the 30's at nearly 31 and then mid week this week had the other one at 36.04.  Jim has also had several other 20's and a good head of high doubles, managing to catch every single session this year.  Jim usually fishes 2-3 night stints and has had an impressive 7 x 20's and 2 x 30's now which isn't bad considering the fish spawned out fully this year and some fish have only just recently started to pile the weight back on.

Other anglers have caught quiet a lot of fish recently.  One group of anglers last weekend had I think 15 or more fish including 3 x 20's including a 29 mirror.  In fact there has been such a trend for some good fishing in general lately that I haven't been able to keep tabs on it.  I have however received some nice reports lately and am going to set them out individually so have a browse through all the new entries.

I think I already reported that some of the chaps from where I work fished a really hot weekend a while back in July and I've finally sorted their pictures out now.  You'll see the fish were quiet skinny due to spawning but even so they all caught 18 pound plus fish toped with a 23 mirror that has recently been out over 24 by Mark Twin (pics on another report).  Nat, pictured below had a personal best 18 mirror which is just one of loads of personal bests this year for Bayeswater anglers, which is good for the anglers and my personal reward for creating the fishery.

Taking out all the smaller fish has really improved the fishery and there has still been a lot of catches of 10 fish in a day to individual anglers so it hasn't slowed the fishing down to much.  Admittedly some fish that were removed were nearly into doubles but most were quiet small and I personally think most were not even boilie eaters.  Over on the syndicate lake we've been removing as many small fish as possible and are struggling to catch them on anything else other than maggots.  I had 9 in an afternoon and Pete Dickel had more than 20 in a part day all on maggot.  Even though these fish are not a nuisance when fishing boilies they are still eating the natural food in the lake, slowing the potential growth of the bigger fish so it's a wise move to thin them out.  All the Syndicate babies are going into the stock pond for further stocking into the 2 main lakes as they grow on.  I'm turning them into boilie eaters by regularly feeding them and I'm sure they will be the future biggies for both lakes.  In the mean time the day ticket lake is prospering with a much higher average weight so it's getting better by the day now.  Rest assured that I don't intend to remove any more fish at all from the day ticket lake for at least another 18 months and probably never if they stop successful spawning.  I think some of you have been put of by the removals and others were put of by the low average weight of the day ticket lake fish but I think it is such a better water now and the fish and fishing will prosper in the future.  Don't miss out.
