First I hope you have all had a good Christmas and start to the New Year. Every one from Bayeswater hopes you all have and that it all keeps good.
Well, what of the fishing?
Its been tough, in fact I dont think there has been anything out of either lake so far since the new year.
The biggest problem has been the access. Look at the pictures below, it is atrocious to say the least. It is passable, with caution as you can see even in a Mondeo you just have to drive slow and careful, keeping to the high bits.
I can only apologise to those that have wanted to go fishing but been put of. It will get better but I just don't know when and then for how long. It seems that each time the track and car park is mended it doesn't last much more than a week. It is so frustrating!
I hope to get something done about it as soon as possible but cant promise anything. I talked to the gravel people this week and am going to have an on site meeting with one of the managers so I'll hopefully be able to have a better idea soon.
The weather has not helped much, what with heavy frosts, evil winds, heavy rain and generally totally rubbish fishing conditions. I've even struggled to catch chub from the river Lea and chub dont generally seem to care about the conditions, unlike carp.
When I nipped down the lakes this week, after Mondays rains there was a lot of water in all the low land areas. The Chelmer was over its banks, as was just about every ditch and stream. It was in fact pretty impressive in a perverse sort of way. Bayeswater though was ok but the new pit being dug that has caused us most of the mess was completely flooded by the river. Once again there will be a kick back for Bayeswater and it will postpone the completion of our banks and access for? who knows how long. Bloody depressing!!!!
Onwards is the only option, a big statement that, but, as soon as I come back from the far east work trip I couldn't get out of I'm dusting my carp rods of and starting my carp fishing year. Sometimes you just have to get on it.
Well, that's about all I can say for now.
Best Wishes from the Bayeswater team.
