I've been silly busy at work recently so just
haven't had time to service the web site so here's a little catch
up.
Steve the bailiff carried on for a while fishing
the day ticket lake until he moved to the syndicate. Steve had several
sessions where he had multiple catches on the maggots but then started to pick a
few up on boilies. Steve's best fish was this 21.08lb but the average
fish were upper doubles. As I've probably said, removing the small fish
has increased the weights of the doubles and it looks likely that the
more I take out the better.
I'll be having one more go at removing the under
doubles this year (a bit late I know but the terrible winter put the nets
men I know so behind it will have to be late) After the next
netting I will only be netting every other year if the remaining carp keep
breading like they have been. To be honest I thought the netting would
upset the fishing but the total reverse has happened every time, it seems to
stir them up and get them on the feed. Even after the last attempt,
after Christmas the fishing got better even though it was still perishing
cold. Steve caught his 20 only a few days after the
netting.
There's been quiet a lot of fish out of the Day
Ticket lake recently since the last report when Pete Dickel had the new lake
record 34.02 mirror. The common we caught while netting has come out twice
since the netting, once at 29 and again at just over 30. Hope to have the
pics soon.
In the few days of decent weather we had there was
a lot of takes on zig rigs, one angler having 6 or so night takes on black foam
zigs. I don't think there was any fish out on the surface but the carp did
have a few days living just under the surface showing their self's of to the
anglers present.
With the weather being as it is they have been a
little tricky but there is now fish coming out much more regular than a
month or so back. In the last few weeks there has been several 20's
including a 26, a 27, the common out twice at 29 and 30 and an heap of upper to
high doubles. The track is good and the banks have dried out nice so nows
the time to get down there, the 32 and the 34 mirrors are due.
Cheers
Gary
