There aren't many anglers getting down the lake at
the moment but those that are catching a few.
Bill Flowers did a 24 hour session at the end of
November and caught 9 fish including several upper doubles. Bill sent me
several pictures, good man!, just what I need for the gallery. I bailiffed
last Saturday and found out that Mark, one of the regulars had a 22 mirror on a
recent session, he also had a couple of fish this Saturday/Sunday. One of
the lads from work had a couple on the Friday and several other anglers that
have managed to fish have mostly gone home with a fish or two being
caught. So it's fishing steady right up to December so far.
The track isn't all that so if you do go down there
drive sensibly. I get there easy enough in the old Mondao estate, you just
have to drive steady and avoid the deeper looking holes. I'll have another
go at the gravel company like I do every week but they don't often do a lot
about the track, although sometimes they do.
I dug the day ticket overflow out and piped it to
the ditch this weekend so the water level on the day ticket lake won't get out
of hand like it did last year. I have actually set the pipe a bit low and
the water is running out already but at least the little ditch isn't there any
more to trip our barrows up.
Over on the syndicate lake there hasn't been much
out lately, only one 21 pound common to Charlie, one of only one or two anglers
to fish it the past few weeks. The water level is coming up quick with all
the rain we're having and it already looks like a different lake, like it does
when the water comes up.
I have finished swims 2 and 3 now, hopefully
digging them back far enough and dressing them up so they will be as comfortable
as possible for now. If they need more ballast on top I'll put some more
on but they seem ok. The idea of these swims is to keep us away from the
power lines so I must insist that anyone fishing the road bank sets up in the
swims now. If anyone sets up behind the swims they'll be asked to
immediately move either to another bank or into one of the swims, no excuses, I
moved a lot of gear to ensure our safety.
The shooting is in full swing now, I've already
reported such but there have been a couple of incidents/miss-understandings this
year. Please be aware of the signs I've put up. The shooting is an
hell of a lot more expensive than the fishing and the shooting syndicate do have
priority, for that reason and the fact they were there first. I've already
explained that it really only lasts about an hour so please be patient and don't
interfere in any way.
I would wish you all a merry Christmas now but I'm
sure to be reporting again before then but just in case, merry Christmas from
Steve, Anne and I.
