Greg Catches 5 After The First Frost Of The Year

Greg, Alan and me fished the Day Ticket lake last Saturday to try to catch the fish needed for an health check.  Typically there was the first frost of the year on the Friday night so as always when it's imperative to catch a certain number of fish we didn't !!  I did catch one of the 3 crusions and one good roach.
 
We managed to catch a lot of roach, 8 perch and one rudd.  We couldn't catch any little carp, tench or enough rudd and perch.  It's going to take a netting which is something I didn't want to do.  I'll let you know if this happens as it could effect the fishing.  I will fish it before the netting day though to try to catch them with rod and line so just might be able to save the day and not have to net.
 
Greg had a blank night on the Friday but then had 5 in an hour and an half on Saturday morning, Nothing under 6lb so none to health check.  The best was the 20.02 mirror but he liked the 2 perfect commons and recons they were all in pukka nick.  He had a move later in the day and had a pretty mirror. 
 
Saturday night only produced one take, which he lost after about 5 minutes, he then had a little one mid morning before the downpour started.  Nearly every Essex lake I know doesn't fish in heavy rain but Greg braved it out to catch another 4 and also lost what he thought was a better fish when the rain finally stopped.  Not bad, 10 fish and 2 lost on a Baltic October weekend.
