NEW FISH FOR THE DAY TICKET LAKE

We started to manage the day ticket lake stock last season removing some of the small fish to let the better fish grow on. This worked well but instead of some of the bigger fish putting on a spurt of growth it seems that all of the fish put on a bit.

Certainly the average weight of the doubles is 15 plus now when it was definitely only about 13 pound a year ago. This is very promising and this year will see a lot more 20's than before as there was a lot of 18 to 20 pound fish caught last season.

I'm going to have a go at thinning the little ones out again this spring which will certainly give the better fish another boost.

All this taking fish out might distress some of you but it has always been my intention to make a 20's water with a few 30's in it. This has taken a bit longer than expected so I have put a couple of 30's in, both mirrors, one of 32 and the other 34.

Both these fish look nice and young and I hope will grow on nicely if I take out some more home bred babies.

I'm growing more fish on in the stock pond either for sale for more bigger fish or to add to the bigger stock in both lakes so bear with us and keep your eye on the web site.
