THINGS ARE PICKING UP

May 03,2009

After the netting at the beginning or April the day ticket lake has started to produce a few fish.

One of two 18'sI had an hour or two while waiting for the fish to be picked up, just to see if I could catch an extra one or two little ones "to go".  It was a bit windy and cold for fishing the shallows but I did manage to mess a couple of chances up (must be out of practice) and caught one, of about 16 pounds.

The same day I had a little dabble Mark Twin had a brace of 18's, which to be honest amazed me as he caught them both close to one of the holding pens with about 400 pound of little captives waiting for their journey to their new home.  There was a terrific show of jumping and rolling fish that evening, again very surprising so soon after the trauma of all the netting activity.  I had my camera to hand for the first one so I've attached the pic.

Mark had a 22 pounder on his next trip which pleased me as much as Mark, as I know he has had a lot of fish but been unlucky, just missing the 20 pound barrier by ounces before.  Well done Mark and thanks for the picture..

Steve Copplestone, one of the syndicate members had a couple of nights on the day ticket lake for a change and had a good catch.  Two 20's to 22lb, an 18, 3 16's and some other doubles.  He only caught one under 10 pound and was well chuffed at that.

The fishing has really improved at last with the warmer weather.  There has been fish caught every day there has been anglers on the lake, even on short sessions.  Greg, from work even had a couple of fish on the floater, on my borrowed gear in an hour or two one evening.

The track is now very improved and the bank between the day ticket lake and stock pond has been tarted up a bit.  There is still a lot of work to do but with the dryer weather and the bit of work that has been done its muck more pleasant down there now.  I can only keep apologising for the inconvenience and will keep on it, but at long last things are looking better.

Now all we need is more anglers, so get on down there!!!!!!
