NETTING STARTS ON SUNDAY 12th TO 14th April
I know it is very short notice but I have been trying to organise a netting for the day ticket lake for most of this year. This coming weekend is the last week I can do it. Time is running out, the weather is starting to warm up and it will soon be impossible to catch them, let alone transport them.
The idea is to take out all the single figure carp and as many small roach, rudd, perch and tench as possible. This will let the remaining fish grow on to better weights.
Only two weekends back the lads from work had more than a dozen fish with only one double, that's not what I want the lake to be.
The catch that one of the members made this last weekend is more like I want the lake to be, a brace of 20's and several other fish over 15 pound.
Sometimes it's nearly impossible to get through the single figure fish to get at the doubles and 20's so I see it that there is no alternative but to remove the little blighters.
By reducing the population it will give the better fish much more room to grow and hopefully there will be a lot more multiple 20's captures.
So I apologise to anyone who's Sundays fishing might be spoilt and hope that anyone seeing this report wants to come and give us an hand.
If you do come down to help bring waders and waterproofs, it is a wet, messy lot, netting. I also take dry clothes, just in case.
To wet your appetite I've enclosed some pics of a test netting we did before Christmas to assess the amount of fish there might be to remove.
I'll publish the figures of the removal as soon as possible after the netting.
Hope you are all well and get the rods out, best regards,
Gary
