Just a reminder that we share the lakes with a shooting
syndicate.
Recently there was an incident were an angler was a
bit upset with this. I never really
got to the bottom of the incident but I can only assume there was some worry
about safety or maybe a thought or two for the birds being shot at.
It's on the website about the shooting but please be
aware that the shooting has priority over the fishing, that was the deal with
the farmer and that has not changed.
On Culverts, night fishing is banned during the winter in
preference to the shooting. This is
not the case on Bayeswater so we do have the better deal.
So when the shooting is on please either walk up to you
car and wait until they are finished or simply sit still and enjoy it. I personally think it’s awesome to
watch.
At worst it will only last about an hour, there might be
one or two dogs about during this and there may be some dead pellets land near
you. It’s very unlikely that anyone
will be harmed in anyway. The
shooters do conduct themselves in the safest way possible and always make sure
they know where you are.
So, PLEASE be aware of the fact that we share the site
with a shooting syndicate, PLEASE don’t cause any friction with the shooter's
(they have the right of way, and they are armed) and just sit back and enjoy
this aspect of country life. The
shooting's only a short season and it will soon be spring when the ducks,
once again, will be a nuisance and you’ll wish the shooter's had been better
shots.
Cheers
Gary
