Danny's Cracker!

Danny Regan had this cracking 33lb mirror from Bayeswater Syndicate Lake this spring. His son had a different 33lb mirror the week before and another member Pete Dickle had two 30's, a 33lb mirror (repeat capture) and a lake record 34 1/2lb common a week or so after.![]() The weed is thick on the Syndicate now and the water level is receeding due to irrigation. This put a few angler off a bit but in fact is not such a problem if the angler allows for it. I always use tied on leads when fishing in thick weed. I developed a weed marker through Nash Tackle to find spots in extreme weed. There is the option to use cut down lead clips, Kevin Nash just wrote in the Advanced Carp Magazine about this. I can't express strongly enough how important ejecting the lead is when fishing in weed. Not sometime after the take, when the fish has got firmly stuck in the weed, it's too late then. The lead must eject on the take or on first contact with weed. I promise you'll land the fish so much easier. Even if the fish do become stuck they pop out of the weed again so much easier, either by changing the angle of the pull from the bank or taking to one of the boats and pulling directly from above. ALWAYS WEAR A LIFE JACKET ON THE BOAT. I've seen anglers using in-line leads, helicopter rigs and running rigs in weedy waters much too often. PLEASE don't use them in the syndicate lake. Every lost fish is pointless, you'll look a lot better smiling at the camera with a fish such as Danny's instead of fishless with the old adage of " The one that got away." We do have a few Syndate places left for this year, if anyone is interested please contact us. Be lucky, Gary |
