Steven Hurst had this 19lb-10oz common a few weeks ago. The lake has been producing quite a few fish but not so many of the better ones. The weather hasn't helped at all. The fish have been in the upper layers a lot. In the past two to three weeks they have been caught on the surface, on floaters, zigg rigs anywhere from 1ft off the bottom, right up to just under the surface, from the margins in a couple of feet of water and off the bottom in 8-10ft of water. In short it's been totally un-predictable, no one method being the best. My only advice is to be flexible, try to consider the conditions on the day and be prepared to try any method. Just two Sundays ago there was around 15 fish caught on zigg rigs in the afternoon. No other method caught anything. There is a lot of fish in Bayeswater, they are not impossible to catch, it's just a matter of sussing out the best method as quickly as possible. The anglers who adapt to the conditions on the day will catch carp. Gary ![]() |
