Oliver Bags A New PB
May 21,2008 00:00 by gary
It's been a bit harder the last two weekends although there is still a lot of fish being caught, just not the bigger ones. That's fishing though and it can change on the very next bite.

There has been one or two anglers having a go on the feeder and float lately, catching a lot of Perch, Roach and Rudd.  In fact its a bit hectic on these methods.  Its well worth having a go on bigger baits when the bites are coming thick and fast, nice big worms, a good summer bait for a bigger Perch, Roach or Rudd.  Double corn or a big piece of bread flake is also worth a go, although I love the worm as its a good bait for all species.

Below is an email I received today, my favourite type of mail, where a young angler has a good fishing time.  Oliver now joins the many anglers this year who have caught personal bests from Bayeswater this year. I love it when the PB stories come in, Nice one Oliver.

Hi Gary.

Had a good weekend down the lake.  I went with my 13 year old nephew (Oliver) for a 36 hour stint.   We ended up with 9 carp between us and 2 tench with a combined weight of over 93 lb.  Oliver got a new personal best of 10 lb 3 oz doubling his previous best.   The biggest was 14 lb.  5 of the 11 were doubles. most of them were caught in the margins using method feeders with sweet corn on our rigs.  Oliver ended up with 2 carp and 2 tench (both weighed a little under 5 lb).  He is already asking me when he can next come.  I have attached a photo of Olivers pb, the 14 lb one and Oliver's biggest perch he has caught.

Cheers,
